Dear Readers: Shalom! My name is Rabbi Adam Ruditsky, and I want to thank you for visiting Congregation Shalom Yisrael's web site. I will probably not be able to answer all the questions you may have today, but I would like to take just a moment to share with you a little bit about Shalom Yisrael and Messianic Jews. Shalom Yisrael began because of the many Jewish people in our area who have come to believe that Yeshua haNotzri - Jesus of Nazareth - is the Messiah of promise spoken of by the Jewish prophets in the Tanakh. As Jews who desire to uphold Jewish life and values, we have embraced t'shuvah, a return to God in Messiah. Ultimately, as a synagogue, we desire that our children know who they are, observing the Shabbat, experiencing the holidays, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, the chupah, and so much more, but most of all, that they would know Yeshua the Jewish Messiah, and a loving and holy God. In fact, that is something we wish upon each person who comes to Shalom Yisrael, that they too might know God in a deep and meaningful way.

We have come to faith in Yeshua because of a sincere honesty and willingness to know and to approach G-d with an open mind. In our seeking, it was the Ruach, the Spirit of God, that revealed the Messiah Yeshua to us in different, but powerful ways. Even in our enlightened world, we think faith in God has helped to make us better people, and it also makes this place where we live a whole lot better. As a congregation, Shalom Yisrael desires to do our part and bring good cheer into our city and surrounding area.

I realize that some of you may look at us Jews who believe in Yeshua as if there is something wrong with us, after all, Jews do not believe in Jesus. Well, obviously that is just not true! I would like to invite you to find out directly from us what you cannot find out from your local Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, or Reconstructionist Synagogue, after all, when it comes down to it only we can speak for ourselves. We are not Jews who have become gentiles, and we are not just Christians pretending to be Jews in order to win you, or anyone else for that matter, away from being Jewish. We are people who have accepted the claims of Yeshua and his followers, and would like share with you why we believe that to be so. Lastly, it is truly my desire that as you are faced with the person of Yeshua, you would take the time to find out more about him and the God of Israel.
